...But it was the world premiere in the second half of the program,
which made me take my pen. “Rotissimo” is a Suite for Clarinet, Violin
and String Orchestra, written after the film music of famed Italian film
composer Nino Rota, whose 100th birthday is celebrated this year.
"Rotissimo" was composed by our compatriot,
Maestro Alexander Goldstein,
who now lives in Florida. While living in Moscow, he composed music for
a plethora of feature and documentary films. Music for film is his
genre. "Rottissimo" is a Classical Crossover composition, combining
elements of classical and popular music genres. Presently, it is the
most trendy genre among the admirers of serious music as well as those
who prefer lighter music fare.

Goldstein debut
Naples resident Alexander Goldstein is the
composer of an orchestral suite that will premiere on Oct. 15 with the
Canadian Sinfonietta Orchestra, acclaimed clarinetist Julian Milkis and
violinist Joyce Lai at the Glenn Gould Studio in Toronto, A “Night at the
Movies” will feature “Rotissimo,” a suite for clarinet, violin and string
orchestra. It was composed by Goldstein as a tribute to Nino Rota, the
Italian movie music composer whose work has become famous from films such
as “The Godfather” and “Romeo and Juliet.”

The music editor, arranger and programmer created the music for all four of
the top finalists in the 2010 Olympics ice dance competition.
In the last four years, Goldstein has received
four international awards including the 2011 Telly award for “Naples Oral
Histories: If These Walls Could Only Talk.”
